Luther Quote of the Week

We are reluctant to put up with other people’s frailties and, instead, every one expects every one else to be perfect.

Luther500 2013

The Luther 500 Festival is an seven-day cultural immersion experience that brings the Reformation to life as you serve, learn, and celebrate in the places where Martin Luther did the same 500 years ago. This pilgrimage to Germany will revitalize your school or congregation as participants come face to face with the breadth and importance of the Reformation, make new friends, connect with their heritage, and experience first hand how Church history can be a whole lot of fun. Prepare to be transformed and re-formed.

What sets the Festival apart from a “tour” is that you live for the week in Wittenberg. From that base of operations, you can choose from a couple of day trips to different destinations including Wartburg and Erfurt (the castle and the monastery of Martin Luther with Evening Prayer at the Augustinian Monastery), Dresden/Leipzig (includes the Thomas Church and Bach sites with evening prayer at the St. Nicholas), Eisleben (includes servant project to the town along with Birth House and Evening Prayer at the St. Peter and St. Paul Church), and Berlin for Beginners and Advanced Berlin trips (with Evening Prayer at a historic church in Berlin). During the other days back in Wittenberg there are all kinds of Interest Centers, recreation options, museums, churches, shopping, concerts and so forth. The days are full but relaxed and are sandwiched between Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer. And in the late-evenings you will enjoy fellowship in the Luther Cellar (basement of the Wittenberg Castle) and Castle Courtyard.
